Business Development Assistant

Role Purpose

The Business Development Assistant (BDA) is an integral role within the business development team. The BDA controls the flow of new business opportunities introduced to the team, ensures that they are followed up and responded to in a timely manner, and monitors outcomes. The BDA also helps with the management of sales marketing activities such as seminars and conferences, etc.

The role requires good organisational, IT, and telephone/inter-personal skills, the ability to prioritise and high levels of attention to detail.  The BDA liaises with Stream Heads, wider Business Development team and Marketing Department on all matters pertaining to new business prospects and existing client development in accordance with agreed timescales and Broadstone standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist the Business Development team to build prospective client relationships and respond to new client opportunities
  • Co-ordinate and project manage the end to end sales process from initial qualification/requirements gathering to proposal/tender response
  • Create and maintain prospect files and records electronically
  • Draft/amend fee proposals, reports and presentations as required
  • Draft/amend engagement letters, email and post onto to prospective client and track when returned, including research using both Broadstone information systems and externally on the Web
  • Help maintain relationships with prospective clients and introducers
  • Develop a full understanding of the Broadstone proposition
  • Manage, host and attend prospective client seminars, parties and new business activities (as appropriate)
  • Carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit as may be reasonably required by the Company and for the purpose of personal development
  • Diary management – including arranging and co-ordinating meetings, liaison with delegates (both internal and external) and their secretaries, booking meeting rooms and refreshments as necessary
  • Oversee and a train another member of the team to support the Business Development teams across the business.

Technical Knowledge and Professional Qualifications

Key Skills

  • Computer literate (MS Office) and quick to learn new IT skills/software usage
  • Good planning and organisation skills – able to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise own workload to meet Prospect/Client and Consultant needs
  • Attention to detail when producing reports, proposals, tender responses, data or other analysis
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to identify, diagnose, prioritise and offer potential solutions to solve problems
  • Good team player – keen to assist team members with achieving team and individual objectives, particularly during busy periods
  • Ability to understand and follow internal prospect/client on-boarding process and ongoing servicing routines
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and complete administration relating to new and existing clients.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to organise travel arrangements
  • Experience of supporting bid/RFP responses

Knowledge

  • Full understanding of New Business Development
  • Marketing background an asset
  • Market/competitor knowledge
  • Anti-Money Laundering, TCF and Data Management regulations and internal processes
