Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager will contribute to the overall strategic direction of Broadstone business development including identifying new ways to win in the market, strategic development of our distribution channels, and successfully delivering our products and overall proposition to market. 

The appointee will report to the Director – Employer Services and will have direct line management responsibility for the business development team and delivery of targets, in addition to ownership and delivery of personal sales targets for identified, key prospects. 

The role holder will ensure that the business development function collects and manages market feedback and business intelligence to inform business decisions and be a key influencer in the proposition development, in particular, Broadstone’s digital customer platform solution. 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Produce, drive and own the strategic plan to build the Employer Services Business Development function, ensure delivery of required sales targets and drive profitable growth
  • Oversight of all strategically important opportunities to ensure they are delivered in a manner consistent with our ambitions, goals and values, to an exceptional level of quality
  • Develop highly engaging relationships with partners who can broaden our traditional distribution channels to  deliver required business targets and outcomes
  • Work with the proposition heads to pro-actively identify and drive areas for strategic growth and success
  • Facilitate and provide presentations and sales training as required, internally and to strategic partners to drive engagement in, primarily, our Employer Services proposition
  • Build strong and productive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Live the brand values and act as an ambassador for the business at all times
  • Consistently demonstrates deep understanding of Broadstone’s products and services and how they compare against the market
  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring compliance and regulatory requirements are met within the Business Development function

Technical Knowledge and Key Skills

  • Extensive experience of the UK Employee Benefits market and/or successful track record within B2B corporate environment, with particular experience in flexible benefits’ platforms and digital solutions (or similar) for both employers and their employees
  • Positive, strong and engaging leader able to build a high performing team
  • Skilled negotiator and builder of strong and successful business relationships
  • Results-oriented achiever with a proven track record in building and driving the required sales results
  • Highly commercial attitude and understanding of the drivers of volumes and profit in the given segment
  • Engaging and adaptive style of presenting material up to Board level presenting
  • Highly confident in communicating at all levels of an organisation
  • Ability to create an immediately credible impact both internally/externally, in line with brand values and demonstrating integrity at all times
  • Creative problem solver who can identify and provide solutions to a customer’s demands
  • Exceptionally self-driven, is able to work on own initiative and drive the elements required to deliver the business plan
  • Flexible with strong desire to be part of a challenging and change oriented environment
